ଭିଲାଣ୍ଟେରୋଲ ହେଉଛି ଏକ ଔଷଧ ଯାହା ମୁଖ୍ୟତ କ୍ରନିକ ଅବଷ୍ଟ୍ରକ୍ଟିଭ ଫୁସଫୁସ ରୋଗ (COPD)ର ଚିକିତ୍ସା ପାଇଁ ବ୍ୟବହୃତ ହୁଏ ।^[୧] ଆଜମା ରୋଗର ଅବନତିକୁ ରୋକିବା ପାଇଁ ଏହା ମଧ୍ୟ ବ୍ୟବହୃତ ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୨] ଏହା ଅନ୍ୟ ଔଷଧ ସହିତ ମିଶି ପ୍ରଶ୍ୱାସରେ ନିଆଯାଏ ।^[୨]

ସାଧାରଣ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ନାକ ଏବଂ ଗଳାର ଉତ୍ତେଜନା, ଛତ୍ରକ ରୋଗ ବା ଥ୍ରଶ୍ (thrush) ଏବଂ ଛାତି ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୧] ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଆନାଫାଇଲକ୍‌ସିସ ଏବଂ ବ୍ରୋଙ୍କୋସ୍ପାଜ୍ମ ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୧] ଏହା ଏକ ଦୀର୍ଘ କାଳୀନ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟକାରୀ β<sub>୨</sub> ଆଡ୍ରେନୋରିସେପ୍ଟର ଆଗୋନିଷ୍ଟ (LABA) ଅଟେ | ^[୧]

୨୦୧୩ ମସିହାରେ ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରରେ ଚିକିତ୍ସା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର ପାଇଁ ଫ୍ଲୁଟିକାସୋନ ସହିତ ଭିଲାଣ୍ଟେରୋଲ ଦେବାକୁ ଅନୁମୋଦିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା ।^[୩] ଏହା ଉମେକ୍ଲିଡିନିଅମ/ଭିଲାଣ୍ଟେରୋଲ ଏବଂ ଫ୍ଲୁଟିକାସୋନ/ଉମେକ୍ଲିଡିନିଅମ/ ଭିଲାଣ୍ଟେରୋଲ୍ ନାମରେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଉପଲବ୍ଧ ।^[୧] ^[୨] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଜ୍ୟରେ ୨୦୨୧ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ଏକ ମାସର ଔଷଧ ଖର୍ଚ୍ଚ ପ୍ରାୟ ୨୦ରୁ ୪୫ ପାଉଣ୍ଡ ହୋଇଥାଏ ।^[୨] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରରେ ଏହି ରାଶିର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାୟ ୧୯୦ ଡଲାର ଅଟେ ।^[୪]
