ସେଫୁରୋକ୍ସାଇମ, ଏକ ବିକ୍ରୟ ନାମ ଜିନାସେଫ୍, ହେଉଛି ଏକ ଆଣ୍ଟିବାୟୋଟିକ ଯାହା ଅନେକ ଗୁଡ଼ିଏ ସଂକ୍ରମଣର ପ୍ରତିଷେଧ ଓ ଚିକିତ୍ସାରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହୃତ ହୁଏ ।^[୧] ଏଥିମଧ୍ୟରେ ନିମୋନିଆ, ମେନିଞ୍ଜାଇଟିସ୍, ମଧ୍ୟକର୍ଣ୍ଣ ପ୍ରଦାହ, ସେପସିସ୍, ମୂତ୍ରାଙ୍ଗ ସଂକ୍ରମଣ ଏବଂ ଲାଇମ୍ ରୋଗ ଅନ୍ତର୍ଭୁକ୍ତ। ^[୨] ଏହା ପାଟିରେ କିମ୍ବା ଶିରା ଅଥବା ମାଂସପେଶୀରେ ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୩]

ସାଧାରଣ ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ ଅଇ, ତରଳ ଝାଡ଼ା, ଆଲର୍ଜି ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ଏବଂ ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ସ୍ଥାନରେ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣା ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୨] ଗମ୍ଭୀର ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାରେ କ୍ଲୋଷ୍ଟ୍ରିଡିଅମ ଡିଫିସିଲ୍ ସଂକ୍ରମଣ, ଆନାଫାଇଲକ୍ସିସ୍ ଏବଂ ଷ୍ଟିଭେନ୍ସ - ଜନସନ ସିଣ୍ଡ୍ରୋମ ହୋଇପାରେ ।^[୩] ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥାରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର ଏବଂ ସ୍ତନ୍ୟପାନ ନିରାପଦ ବୋଲି ବିଶ୍ୱାସ କରାଯାଏ । ^[୪] ଏହା ଏକ ଦ୍ୱିତୀୟ ପିଢ଼ୀର ସେଫାଲୋସ୍ପୋରିନ ଔଷଧ ଯାହା ଜୀବାଣୁଙ୍କର କୋଷ ପ୍ରାଚୀର ତିଆରି କରିବାରେ ବାଧା ପ୍ରଦାନ କରିବା ଫଳରେ ମୃତ୍ୟୁ ହୁଏ ।^[୩]

୧୯୭୧ ମସିହାରେ ସେଫୁରୋକ୍ସାଇମ୍ ପେଟେଣ୍ଟ ହୋଇଥିଲା ଏବଂ ୧୯୭୭ ମସିହାରେ ଚିକିତ୍ସାରେ ବ୍ୟବହାର ପାଇଁ ଅନୁମୋଦିତ ହୋଇଥିଲା ।^[୫] ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ତାଲିକାରେ ଏହାର ନାମ ଅଛି । ^[୬] ଏହା ଏକ ସାଧାରଣ ଔଷଧ ଭାବରେ ଉପଲବ୍ଧ ।^[୧] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଜ୍ୟରେ ପାଟିଦ୍ୱାରା ନିଆଯାଉଥିବା ଏକ ସପ୍ତାହ ଚିକିତ୍ସା ନିମନ୍ତେ ୨୦୧୯ ସୁଦ୍ଧା ମୂଲ୍ୟ £ ୧୮ ଅଟେ ।^[୭] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରରେ ଏହି ପରିମାଣର ହୋଲସେଲ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ପ୍ରାୟ ୮.୫୦ ଡଲାର ଅଟେ । ^[୮] ୨୦୧୭ରେ ଏହା ୮୦୦ ହଜାରରୁ ଅଧିକ ପ୍ରେସକ୍ରିପସନ୍ ସହିତ ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରରେ ୩୪୨ତମ ସାଧାରଣ ପ୍ରେସକ୍ରିପସନ୍ ଔଷଧ ଥିଲା । ^[୯]
