ପ୍ରୋସ୍ଟାଗ୍ଲାଣ୍ଡିନ ଇ୧ (ଇଂରାଜୀ ଭାଷାରେ Prostaglandin E1 ବା PGE1, ଅନ୍ୟ ନାମ ଆଲପ୍ରୋସ୍ଟାଡିଲ/alprostadil, ଏକ ପ୍ରାକୃତିକ ପ୍ରୋସ୍ଟାଗ୍ଲାଣ୍ଡିନ (prostaglandin) ଯାହା ଔଷଧ ଭାବରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରାଯାଏ ।^[୧] ଜନ୍ମଗତ ହୃତ୍‌ପିଣ୍ଡ ତୃଟି ଥିବା ପିଲାଙ୍କର ଡକ୍ଟସ ଆର୍ଟେରିଓସସ (ductus arteriosus) ଖୋଲିବା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅପରେଶନ ହେବା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଶିରାଭ୍ୟନ୍ତର ଇନଫ୍ୟୁଜନ ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୨] ଲିଙ୍ଗ ଉତ୍ଥାନ ସମସ୍ୟା (erectile dysfunction) ଥିଲେ ଏହା ମୂତ୍ରମାର୍ଗ (urethra) ଭିତରେ ବା ଲିଙ୍ଗରେ ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ ।^[୩]

ପିଲାଙ୍କୁ ଏହି ଔଷଧ ଦେଲେ ଶ୍ୱାସକ୍ରିୟା କମିଯାଏ, ଜ୍ୱର ଓ ନିମ୍ନ ରକ୍ତଚାପ (low blood pressure) ହେବା ସମ୍ଭାବନା ଥାଏ । ଲିଙ୍ଗ ଉତ୍ଥାନ ସମସ୍ୟା ନିମନ୍ତେ ଏହା ଦେଲେ ଲିଙ୍ଗ ଯନ୍ତ୍ରଣା, ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ରକ୍ତସ୍ରାବ ଓ ପ୍ରିଆପିଜ୍ମ (ଅତ୍ୟଧିକ ସମ‌ୟର ଲିଙ୍ଗ ଉତ୍ଥାନ) ଇତ୍ୟାଦି ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟା ହୋଇପାରେ । ଏହା ରକ୍ତନଳୀ ସ୍ଫୀତକାରୀ (vasodilator) ପରିବାରର ଔଷଧ । ଏହା ସ୍ମୁଥ ମାଂସପେଶୀକୁ (smooth muscle) ରିଲାକ୍ସ କରିବାଦ୍ୱାରା ରକ୍ତନଳୀ ଖୋଲିଯାଏ ।^[୧]

ସନ ୧୯୫୭ରେ ପ୍ରୋସ୍ଟାଗ୍ଲାଣ୍ଡିନ ଇ୧ ପୃଥକ୍ କରାହେବାପରେ ସନ ୧୯୮୧ଠାରୁ ଚିକିତ୍ସା କ୍ଷେତ୍ରରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରାଗଲା । ^[୧]^[୪] ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ (World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines) ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ (health system) ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।^[୫] ସଂଯୁକ୍ତ ରାଷ୍ଟ୍ରରେ ଏହାର ଏକ ଡୋଜର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୭୫ ପାଉଣ୍ଡ । ^[୬] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଆମେରିକାରେ ଏହାର ଏକ ଡୋଜର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୨୦୦ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ।^[୭] ଶିଶୁମାନଙ୍କଠାରେ ପ୍ରୋସ୍ଟାଗ୍ଲାଣ୍ଡିନ ଇ୧ ଭଳି ପ୍ରୋସ୍ଟାଗ୍ଲାଣ୍ଡିନ ଇ୨ କାମ କରେ ଓ ଅଳ୍ପ ମୂଲ୍ୟରେ ମିଳେ । ^[୨]
