ପୋଲିଓ ଟିକା ପୋଲିଓମାୟେଲାଇଟିସ (ପୋଲିଓ) ରୋଗ ପ୍ରତିରୋଧ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଉଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ । [୧] ଏହାର ଏକ ପ୍ରକାର ଟିକା ନିଷ୍କ୍ରିୟ ପୋଲିଓ ଭୁତାଣୁ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରେ ଓ ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ ଆକାରରେ ଦିଆଯାଏ , ଅନ୍ୟଟି ଦୁର୍ବଳ ଭୁତାଣୁ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହାର କରେ ଓ ପାଟିରେ ଖାଇବାକୁ ଦିଆଯାଏ । ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନ ସବୁ ପିଲାଙ୍କୁ ଏହି ଟିକା ଦେବାକୁ ସୁପାରିସ କରେ । [୧]ପୃଥିବୀର ଅଧିକାଂଶ ସ୍ଥାନରୁ ଏହି ଦୁଇ ପ୍ରକାର ଟିକା ପୋଲିଓ ରୋଗ ନିର୍ମୂଳ କରିଦେଇଛି, [୨][୩] ଓ ରୋଗୀ ସଂଖ୍ୟା ପ୍ରତି ବର୍ଷ କମିଯାଇ ବର୍ଷ ୧୯୮୮ରେ ହୋଇଥିବା ୩୫୦,୦୦୦ରୁ କମିଯାଇ ବର୍ଷ ୨୦୧୪ରେ ୩୫୯ ହୋଇଛି । [୪]

ନିଷ୍କ୍ରିୟ ଟିକା ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ନିରାପଦ । ଇଞ୍ଜେକସନ୍ ଦେବା ସ୍ଥାନ ସାମାନ୍ୟ ଲାଲ ଦେଖାଯାଏ ଓ କଷ୍ଟ ଅନୁଭବ ହୁଏ । ମୁଖ ପୋଲିଓ ଟିକା ନେଇ ଏକ ନିୟୁତ ଡୋଜରେ ୩ ଜଣକୁ ପାରାଲିଟିକ ପୋଲିଓମାୟେଲାଇଟିସ ହୁଏ । ଗର୍ଭାବସ୍ଥାରେ ଓ ସୁସ୍ଥ ଏଚ‌ଆଇଭି/ଏଆଇଡିଏସ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଦୁଇଟିଯାକ ଟିକା ସାଧାରଣତଃ ନିରାପଦ ।[୧]

ପ୍ରଥମ ପୋଲିଓ ଟିକା ନିଷ୍କ୍ରିୟ ଥିଲା । ଏହା ସନ ୧୯୫୫ରେ ଜୋନାସ୍ ସଲ୍‌କ୍ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରିଥିଲେ ଓ ୧୯୫୫ରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହୃତ ହେଲା ।[୧] ପାଟି ପୋଲିଓ ଟିକା ଆଲ୍‌ବର୍ଟ ସାବିନ ପ୍ରସ୍ତୁତ କରିଥିଲେ ଓ ବ୍ୟବସାୟିକ ଭିତ୍ତିରେ ପ୍ରଥମେ ସନ ୧୯୬୧ରେ ବ୍ୟବ‌ହୃତ ହେଲା ।[୧][୫]ଏହାର ନାମ ବିଶ୍ୱ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସଂଗଠନର ଅତ୍ୟାବଶ୍ୟକୀୟ ଔଷଧ ଚିଠାରେ ଅଛି ଯାହା ମୌଳିକ ସ୍ୱାସ୍ଥ୍ୟ ସିସ୍ଟମ ନିମନ୍ତେ ଅତି ମହତ୍ତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ।[୬] ସନ ୨୦୧୪ରେ ଏହାର ହୋଲସେଲ ମୂଲ୍ୟ ଏକ ଡୋଜ ପିଛା ୦.୨୫ ଆମେରିକୀୟ ଡଲାର ଥିଲା ।[୭] ଯୁକ୍ତରାଷ୍ଟ୍ର ଆମେରିକାରେ ନିଷ୍କ୍ରିୟ ଟିକାର ମୂଲ୍ୟ ୨୫ରୁ ୫୦ ଡଲାର ।[୮]
