Kahnucharan Mohanty was born on August 11, 1908, in the village of Nagbali on the banks of the Mahanadi. He studied at the Parimohan Academy in Cuttack.

From an early age, Kahnucharan was fascinated by literature. He was impressed by the composition of Fakir Mohan Senapati. Some of his poems were published in school magazines while studying at the Parimohan Academy. But he did not continue to write poetry. He thought that if I could not write poetry in Sanskrit, he could not be called a real poet. He later realized that the novel could also be written in the language spoken by his mother, aunt, and grandfather. Then his writing moved and created one novel after another.
