ଜନୈକା ବିଧବା ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣୀ ନଦୀରୁ ଜଳ ଆଣିବା ସମୟରେ ନିଜ ବ୍ରତଟିକୁ ହଜାଇ ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି । ବ୍ରତ ହରାଇ ବିକଳ ଭାବେ କ୍ରନ୍ଦନ କରୁଥିବା ବେଳେ ନଳ ରାଜା ତାଙ୍କର ଦୁଃଖ ଦୂର କରିବା ପାଇଁ ସତ୍ୟବଦ୍ଧ ହୋଇ ନିଜ ରାଣୀଙ୍କ ଠାରୁ ବ୍ରତ ଆଣି ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣୀଙ୍କୁ ଦେଛନ୍ତି । ବ୍ରତଟି ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତୀକ ହୋଇଥିବାରୁ ବ୍ରତଦାନ କଲେ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀଛଡ଼ା ହେବାର କଥିତ ଥିବାରୁ ରାଣୀ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ କୁଣ୍ଠାର ସହ ବ୍ରତଟିକୁ ଦେଇଛନ୍ତି ।
