'''ଚୈତନ୍ୟଦେବ''' (୧୪୮୬-୧୫୩୪) ,ଭାରତରେ ଭକ୍ତିବାଦର ପ୍ରଚାରକମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଥିଲେ ସର୍ବଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ । ସେ ଗଙ୍ଗାକୂଳବର୍ତ୍ତୀ ନବଦ୍ଵୀପରେ ଏକ ଉତ୍କଳୀୟ [[ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣ]] କୂଳରେ ଜନ୍ମଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲେ । ତାଙ୍କ ମାତାଙ୍କ ନାମ ଶଚୀ ଦେବୀ ଓ ପିତାଙ୍କ ନାମ ଜଗନ୍ନାଥ ମିଶ୍ର । <ref>http://lordcaitanya.com/prologue/en1</ref>ସେ ଅଳ୍ପ ବୟସରେ ଅଗାଧ ପାଣ୍ଡିତ୍ୟ ଅର୍ଜନ କରିଥିଲେ । ସେ ଚବିଶ ବର୍ଷ ବୟସରେ ସନ୍ୟାସ ଧର୍ମ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରି [[ପୁରୀ|ଶ୍ରୀକ୍ଷେତ୍ର]]କୁ ଆଗମନ କରିଥିଲେ ଓ ମହାପ୍ରଣାୟ ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଅବସ୍ଥାନ କରିଥିଲେ । ସେ ତାଙ୍କର ଶତ ଶତ ଗୌଡୀ଼ୟ ଓ ଉତ୍କଳୀୟ ଶିଷ୍ୟଙ୍କ ସାହାର୍ଯ୍ୟରେ ସ୍ଵ ଧର୍ମମତ ଉତ୍କଳ ଓ ବଙ୍ଗଦେଶରେ ପ୍ରଚାର କରିଥିଲେ । ଏହି ଧର୍ମର ମୂଳତତ୍ତ୍ଵ ହେଲା ପ୍ରେମ ଓ ଭଗବାନ [[କୃଷ୍ଣ|ଶ୍ରୀକୃଷ୍ଣ]]ଙ୍କ ଠାରେ ଗଭୀର ଭକ୍ତି । ସେ ଜାତିଧର୍ମନିର୍ବିଶେଷରେ ଶିଷ୍ୟ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରୁଥିଲେ । ତାଙ୍କର ମୁସଲମାନ ଶିଷ୍ୟ ହରିଦାସ ଯବନ ହରିଦାସ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ଲାଭ କରିଥିଲେ । ଉତ୍କଳ ଓ ବଙ୍ଗର ହିନ୍ଦୁସମାଜ ତାଙ୍କ ଧର୍ମମତ ପ୍ରଚାରଦ୍ଵାରା ବିଶେଷ ଭାବରେ ପ୍ରଭାବିତ ହେଇଥିଲା ।<ref>http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/88600/Chaitanya-movement</ref><ref>http://www.scsmath.com/docs/chaitanya_mahaprabhu.html</ref>
